Immediately after completing class 12th, we are confused as to what career will be right for us. We grow up with generally two options in mind, either to take up Engineering or Medicine. But we must know that there are several other career options to choose from besides the ones mentioned above. It all depends on your interest. If you have a quench for analysis, research, like playing with drug molecules, patient care; then Pharmacy is the best option for you. Since inception, Pharmacy has played a role in health care services and especially in today’s time, when the world is suffering because of this COVID 19 outbreak, a pharmacist has played a major role as a drug information expert and has proved to be an asset to health care providers and patients.

Career options after completing Pharma courses:

The Pharmaceutical companies in India offer lucrative job opportunities in Production, Marketing, Research and Development, Quality Assurance, and Quality control. A few of them include Aurobindo Pharma Ltd., Cadila Healthcare Ltd (Zydus), Cipla Ltd., Dr. Reddys Laboratories Ltd., Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd. and many more with attractive salary packages.

A pharmacist can also opt for a career in Clinical Research. India at present is the most preferred hub for clinical trials. This job involves testing the effectiveness and adverse effects of a drug which may take years before it makes it to the market.

A pharmacist can also apply for government jobs as a pharmacist in a dispensary or Hospital. He can work as a drug inspector whose major role is to ensure that the drugs manufactured and sold, meet the required standards.

Diploma in Pharmacy

Diploma in Pharmacy is a short-range course for aspirants who want to start their career in the field of pharmacy. Instead of doing long term courses in pharmacy domain, D. Pharmacy course is the ideal choice for the student who wants a quick start in their pharmacy career. Pursuing D. Pharm can be a good beginning to understand the fundamentals of pharmacy programme and then pursue advanced courses like B. Pharm.

Diploma in Pharmacy covers fundamental Pharmacy Education including the application of chemistry in the pharma industry, theoretical & practical concepts of biochemistry, pharmacology and toxicology. The course enables the students to study about different chemical salts, their application and uses in medicine. The programme holds fine significance in the pharmaceutical industry.

Eligibility

Minimum eligibility qualification is 10+2 level of education in science stream, from a recognized educational board, for admission into the Diploma in Pharmacy [D.Pharm.] course in any college. A minimum aggregate score of 40% (Passing marks) at the 10+2 level is also necessary.

Bachelor in Pharmacy

B.Pharma is an undergraduate degree course in the pharma field. The duration of this course is 4 years. After the completion of this course, an individual can practice as a Pharmacist or chemist. The B.Pharma is one of the popular job oriented course among the science students after class 12th. In this course the students study about the drugs and medicines, Pharmaceutical Engineering, Medicinal Chemistry etc. This course provides a large no. of job opportunities in both the public and private sector.

Eligibility

Students who want to join the B.Pharma programme have to fulfill the given eligibility criteria:

For admission to the Pharmacy courses, student must have passed class 12th with Physics, Chemistry & Maths/Biology.

Students have to secure a minimum of 50% marks in the qualifying examination.
